A Rewind of the Past

Recently the 1990’s have been making a comeback. What are some of the latest trends so far?

  • Overalls- I have caved to the trend of overalls and purchased a pair the other day. They always reminded me of farmers for some reason but they come in such cute patterns.
  • Plaid/Flannel- It’s been more common to rock the “homeless look”. Love me some nice and comfy flannels because they can actually be dressed by adding statement necklaces or dressed down by wearing a solid tank.
  • Chokers- Ok everyone in my school has been getting these Brandy Melville chokers. Personally I’m scared to have things that are too tight around my neck because it’s just a fear of mine to get choked to death.. I think chokers in the nineties were called tattoo chokers.
  • Denim- I guess denim will always be a part of timeless fashion. I love it too much to actually let it go.
  • Big Sweaters- What’s better than chilling in a comfy blanket you are wearing (nothing!). Great for fall/approaching winter.
  • The Grunge Look- check out Michelle Phan’s video on Grunge makeup 🙂
  • Layers- It has to all fit together like wonderful sandwich (that was a terrible comparison)

What’s your favorite nineties fashion moment?

Rose Gold

Today as I was walking with my mother to around the outlet, I quickly nudged her when I saw that there was a Michael Kor’s store right around the corner. She questioned me why I wanted to go. After all, she was not spending hundreds of dollars on me today .. or any given day, but I insisted that we go in just to look at the watches. The rose gold watch shined in it’s case. I was in complete and utter awe of the desire to have this watch as I silently thought of how one day this watch will be mine.

Then the moment came to me. Aha! I think I just found my favorite color. Rose gold. The color itself has a different dimension of color because it is both pink and gold. The color goes with everything, is chic, and very pretty. This day sparked the day where my obsession of rose gold started. While walking in Kate Spade, a little rose gold bow bracelet bangle shined. I immediately wanted it. My mom and I mentally noted of how if we ever came back (which will happen), I’ll get another one. Since the bracelet is dainty, the bracelet is very treasurable. Rose gold seems to bring some warmth back to metallic colors which I love.

Here are some of my favorite rose gold things I can’t wait to get my hands on:

1. Waterliner by em cosmetics in Ro’s gold (haha cute)- I love the way the color shimmers. The color is not your normal nude color but a prettier version of a nude.

2. Hermes Rose Gold Bracelet– This is probably worth a semester in college. This is one of those not now, later pieces.

3. Michael Kors Rose Gold Watch– Very mystical and beautiful.

4. Rose Gold Polish– Perfect for a day and night look.

5. Rose Gold Sunglasses– These are nice but I’m looking for something even better.

What’s your favorite color and why?

Books I’m Dying to Read

Have you ever had someone you looked up to? Well if so, do you know their story?

Many of the successors in the world started from little to nothing. I admire those who have taken opportunities in their life to get ahead. I admire those who fell and got back up. I love hearing stories about how businesses started and how lives were changed. These books are not fiction but they may seem like some sort of fantasy. This is the type of “fantasy” I only wish to live.

1. Make Up: Your Life Guide to Beauty, Style, and Success–Online and Off by Michelle Phan

Michelle Phan is a great inspiration to me. Her wise words and passion are all I really need to move on. She has such an inspiring story and she has come to great success these past few years. Her makeup line em cosmetics is taking off and she deserves it. Michelle Phan is what got me into the social media of the world. I discovered how fun it can be to express yourself online that I would love to do something with social media in the future.

2. #GIRLBOSS by Sophia Amoruso

I recently heard of Sophia Amoruso’s story and I have to say she is amazing. She is the definition of what a girl boss is. To start from hitchhiking and dumpster diving to being the founder and CEO of Nasty Gal is such an amazing journey. This is a must read for me.

3. The Glitter Plan by Pamela Skaist-Levy and Fela Nash-Taylor

Imagine starting a global company with your best friend. These two besties created what is widely known as Juicy Couture. Again like the other stories, they started from nothing and now they are something. This is a book I must have.

I know these books are all about females and what they have accomplished. I am definitely all for girl power but I do not neglect anyone else for their accomplishments. We all strive for the best and to be the best. Sometimes we have to find the right opportunities to succeed. I hope to take out the wisdom of all these books to add to my own life. Since I want to enter a field of fashion, it is important that I learn from others from within the field itself. The point of learning from stories is to avoid the mistakes that they made and create better ideas. Find your inspiration(s) in life and research them. Find their story and learn all about them so that you feel as if you stepped into their lives. After stepping into their lives, then it is time to live your own life.

I wish you the best of luck 🙂
